This thing is built specifically for city riding. It’s a very sporty handling quick curb popper. It is a rigid MTB turned into a city bouncer bike and it’s colored emerald green so, we are calling this one the Emerald City Bouncer.
- This Hardrock frame is made of Specialized butted CroMoly.
- Looks like someone came along and touched up the paint with a pretty good color match but not the best handiwork.
- Shiny high quality fenders match well in size with the plump but athletic tires.
- Size is medium, optimal fit for someone 5'2" to 5'10".
The size of the tire for this build are the low end of what we like to use for crappy PNW roads, but that makes for sporty and quick rolling.
It has solid chromed fenders for transport during drizzle. That and the tires have some concept of siping going on means it can hold its own in the rain.
Build
The primary goal of this build was to make as simple a city bike as possible: a solid, cute build that no self-respecting bike thief would waste their time on. It could be a commuter with a rack or two but as is it is super fun, and will get you home if you get caught riding in the rain
(Note: cantilever brakes are sweet but not the best in the rain unless you keep ligthly applying the brakes constantly, squeegeeing the rim brake track for quicker stopping).
Goals
- Killer commuter (read: fenders) in terms of performance
- Look cute (nice color scheme and shiny parts)
- Be of no value to serious bike thieves (of course, we cannot guarantee some methy tweaker will not do something stupid)
