Curb Hopper

SOLD

26" 1980s MTB · Restomodded into urban bouncer

Specialized RockHopper is one of the classic from Specialized, second only to their StumpJumpers. A cromo steel 26" rigid ’80s MTB classic.

This one has been pulled in from pasture and will live the rest of its life bouncing over curbs and potholes in the city.

Extra matching stickers added from Lucus Brunelle.

Ready to ride for another half a century

The kind of bike you build once and ride for years. Every ball bearing had a full spa day and are currently bathing in fresh grease.

Fitment for a rear rack but that would destroy that beautiful back line (with no brake wrecking the line).

Build

  • Schwalbe Fat Frank tires, a sweet cruiser type tire but high quality German engineering. Lots of delicious pneumatic suspension These light balloon tires have very nice turn profiles. Makes for a sporty plush ride on cruddy asphault.
  • Tall quill stem and upswept bars make for upright comfortable posture
  • Notice very unusual low rear brake, a U brake. They only did that for a handful of year at the end of the eighties.
  • Customer want a budget 1x conversion, swapped a chainring for that shiny bling chair guard.
  • ESI silicon foam grips, like shock absorbers for the hands (they do tear rather easy but that’s confort tax)
  • Tektro Oryx Cantilever Brakes up front
  • Crane bell
  • Silicon covers on brake grips and a wee bit of deliciousness
  • Touched up tons of paint chips, some trivial surface rust removed
  • Original derailleur
